The Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg) took part in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Development Forum for Europe on 26 May, contributing to the 2020-21 implementation plan for the ITU Regional Initiatives for Europe.
The event gave a valuable opportunity for EaPeReg’s experts who attended to share information about EaPeReg’s ongoing projects and to learn about the ITU’s projects in the European region.
Based on the recently signed MoU between EaPeReg and ITU, the EaPeReg experts will cooperate with ITU experts on the ITU’s projects in the European region, including Supporting investment opportunities mapping system in Broadband Infrastructure for South Eastern Europe – a project that includes several Eastern partners (Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine) as well as countries of the Western Balkans.
The European Union’s EU4Digital initiative works together with EaPeReg, supporting efforts to achieve a common roaming space among Eastern Partner countries by 2020, to strengthen the independence of National Regulatory Authorities, and to develop coordinated strategies for frequency distribution.
