The Republic of Moldova has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with development partners on the efficient implementation of information technologies in the educational system.
The agreement was between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), the Competitiveness Project of Moldova, funded by the United States Agency for International Development, the Government of Sweden and the United Kingdom, the Orange Moldova Foundation, Liechtenstein Development Service Foundation, Ion CreangăPedagogical University,and the State University of Tiraspol based in Chisinau.
The document aims to create the conditions for the implementation of digital innovation in education in order to guarantee quality education for all, as stipulated in the National Development Strategy of Moldova 2030. The implementation of this Memorandum will extend the National ‘Class of the Future’ programme, which was initiated in 2017, and has been successfully piloted in 11 high schools in the country.
Minister Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei expressed her appreciation forthe support of external partners in assisting the Republic of Moldova to apply innovative practices and information technologies in education. “By signing this Memorandum, the parties intend to consolidate their efforts and carry out actions designed to favour the implementation of digital innovations in education and the modernisation of pedagogical practices,”the Minister said.
