On October 7-9 Yerevan hosted the World Congress in Information Technology (WCIT), the signature event of the World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA), a consortium of ICT associations from 83 countries.
The WCIT was based on four main pillars: speeches, exhibitions, B2B meetings, and social events. IT and Telecom companies such as IUnetworks, Digitain, Betconstruct, Picsart, Teamviewer, Ucom as well as companies that won the Taiwan Excellence Award had info booths sharing their experience and vision in ICT Innovation and creating a space of robust networking. The Congress attracted more that 60 speakers and 2000 guests.
Heghine Ghukasyan from EY Armenia attended the panel discussions on Healthcare and Cybersecurity where recent developments related to EU4Digital’s two pillars on eHealth and Trust and Security were discussed.
During the panel discussions on ‘Healthcare: Impact in two Hemispheres’, Vardan Gevorgyan Head of e-Health Digitization Committee at EKENG, Vahram Mouradian, Founder and CEO Sensogram Technologies Inc., Georgi Chaltikyan, the Founding President of the Armenian Association of Telemedicine, Laxmi Parida, fellow at Computation Genomics, IM Watson Research Center, and Arsen Torosyan Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia discussed the role of innovative technologies in medicine.
The panel on Trust & Security discussed ‘Defence, Information & Cyber warfare in the Age of Disinformation’. Avetik Kerobyan, Chairman of the Military-Industrial Committee of the Ministry of High Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and Richard Clarke, the Chairman of the Middle East Institute, explored what intelligence, information technology and cyber warfare capabilities are needed in an age of sophisticated tactical and strategic disinformation that operates not just in the military space but increasingly in the political, economic and social spaces.
