Moldova rolls out online health information and tracking system
Date: 06/11/19
Moldova’s National Medical Insurance Company (CNAM) is rolling out an online information system for reporting and keeping track of medical services.
The CNAM told medical providers the system would start being tested by medical service providers from November. The system will allow citizens to make online appointments for medical services, with a free choice of medical provider.
CNAM general director Andrei Matei said the idea of implementing the system was based on the strategic procurement of medical services.
“We want to see how many high–performance services are required, which providers and services are most in demand. This is the first step in order to be able to plan and buy the volume of services needed at the national level, to ensure access to these services based on the needs of the population,” said Matei.
Through its EU4Digital initiative, the European Union supports the development of eHealth networks in the Eastern Partner countries.
By supporting efforts to develop eHealth systems, EU4Digital will deliver benefits for patients, as well as health systems and professionals. Ultimately, improvements in eHealth will result in healthier citizens, greater efficiency in the provision of care, more responsive insurers, and better regulation.
