Healthcare professionals and institutions in Ukraine can manage their supplies and procurement of medical goods using a new digital system, ‘e-Stock’. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, along with the Medical Procurement Agency of Ukraine, launched a pilot of the e-Stock information management system in January.
Within the e-Stock system, healthcare providers will be able to keep track of medicines and medical devices and submit requisitions for purchases, to be made at public expense to optimise the procurement process.
Two modules were launched on 1 January 2023 – for collection of requirements and for user management. eStock will collect information about the need for delivery of ordered goods, the availability of medicines in the hospital, their use and disposal.
Currently, the system is being tried in 162 hospitals and healthcare departments, which are using it to submit requests regarding medicines and medical devices for adult oncology (cancer), as well as for transplant kits and endoprostheses such as bone replacement implants.
Feedback from the medical professionals will support fine-tuning of the system, which will be scaled up to other hospitals and healthcare institutions. The eStock system is planned to be fully operational by the end of 2023.
