First EU4Digital Academy digital skills course is open!
EU4Digital Facility invites citizens and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ukraine to register for the first course available in the new EU4Digital Academy digital learning programme. The user-friendly ‘eCommerce in EU Marketplaces’ online course is useful for learners who have no prior knowledge about eCommerce and want to start their journey, or who are already selling products online in their own country but who want to also sell in the European Union (EU).

EU initiative mentoring Georgian women in technology follows EU4Digital guidance
The European Union launched a ‘Women Mentorship in Tech Programmes’ project in Georgia on 22 March 2024, to be implemented by the Business and Technology University (BTU), based in Tbilisi. This €2 million initiative builds on work and guidance from the EU-funded EU4Digital Facility and is an important step towards strengthening Georgia’s human resources and women's involvement in the digital field.

New memorandum heralds joint research activities in Azerbaijan

EaPConnect partner ASNET-AM facilitates Armenia’s digitisation of cultural materials
In Armenia the digitisation of cultural materials such as books has been ongoing for around 20 years; now, thanks to collaboration within the EU4Digital: Connecting Research and Education Communities (EaPConnect) project, the national research and education network (NREN) ASNET-AM has gained exclusive rights to operate ‘dLibra’ in the country—a system that opens up a range of user-friendly possibilities for the preservation of cultural heritage.

Armenia–Malawi cooperation in digital for research and education
The Armenian national research and education network (NREN) ASNET-AM has become a 6-month ‘twin’ with its Malawian counterpart MAREN. As part of a pilot programme to exchange knowledge with and foster the development of emerging NRENs such as MAREN, the ‘EU4Digital: Connecting Research and Education Communities (EaPConnect)’ project partner ASNET-AM is providing knowledge and technical support in High Performance Computing and cyber-emergency response among other topics.

European Commission recommends EU accession status changes for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia
On 8 November 2023, the European Commission recommended that the Council of the European Union opens EU accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, and grants candidate country status to Georgia on the understanding that a number of steps are taken. The Commission also adopted the 2023 Enlargement Package, in which the progress of these countries was assessed for the first time.

EaPConnect partner RENAM supports Moldova’s new cervical cancer screening network
Women in the Republic of Moldova will experience enhanced cervical cancer screening and prevention services thanks to the National Colposcopy Network, launched on 2 November 2023. The network uses videoconferencing services provided by RENAM, the country’s research and education network and partner in the ‘EU4Digital: Connecting Research and Education Communities (EaPConnect)’ project to help the new system to run smoothly.

Libraries as enablers of scientific research: e-infrastructures workshop
The National Science Library in Tbilisi, Georgia will host a workshop on 27-28 April 2023 emphasising the role and function of libraries in the development of science. Co-organised with the EU4Digital: Connecting Research and Education Communities (EaPConnect) project and its partner GRENA, the Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association, the event will explore how open e-infrastructures have become an important aspect of libraries.
