Ukrainian startups achieve high visibility at major European tech events
Date: 05/07/23
Ukraine’s vibrant startup community was well represented and highly visible on three significant occasions in mid-June – a UK parliamentary debate and major events Viva Tech and Tech Week. Among thousands of conference participants, they attracted the attention of a president, an award shortlisting, and meetings with potential investors.
Productive participation in Paris event
Viva Technology is one of Europe’s largest technology conferences. Viva Tech 2023 took place in Paris on 14-17 June. More than 150,000 like-minded people, 2,400 startups and about 2,800 exhibitors gathered at the event. From Ukraine, 12 startup teams travelled to Paris to present their unique designs, including: Qudi, Revisior, Skillzrun, MISU, G-MAK, Elomia Health, Orderry, InVisionaryBox, Uspacy, FlightMindAI, Adminix and UGLA. This resulted in some exciting developments:
Skillzrun presented its product to French President Emmanuel Macron;
6 startups gathered at the conference’s ‘Pitch Studio’ stage – Adminix, Skillzrun and Revisionor met with representatives of the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton;
Releaf Paper became one of 18 finalists of the LVMH Innovation Award, which recognises promising startups from France and other countries. More than 1,300 startups from 75 countries competed for the award, of which more than 250 were in the Sustainability and Greentech category.
London meetings with investors and policymakers
The annual London Tech Week on 12-14 June attracted around 30,000 visitors – technocrats, investors and representatives of startups. Nine companies represented the Ukrainian IT ecosystem. These teams held more than 200 meetings, achieving preliminary agreements with investors from the United Kingdom, the United States and the UAE, who are potentially ready to invest over $8 million. In addition, Oleksandr Bornyakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, joined a British Parliament debate on the Power of Crypto and Emerging Technologies in Ukraine. He talked about the development of technologies in Ukraine within the Founders Forum — a group that brings together the world’s most successful founders and thought leaders.
