EU4Digital stakeholder workshop explores national-level acceleration of results adoption
The activities of the EU4Digital Facility are driven by the needs of countries in the Eastern Partnership region—Armenia, Azerbaijan, Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine. These activities are carried out in close cooperation with bilateral activities managed by EU Delegations as part of the EU-Eastern Partnership joint agenda. To maximise results during the EU4Digital Facility’s current, second phase, EU4Digital hosted a workshop in Brussels with key EU and Eastern partner country stakeholders on 18 October 2023. The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to review the project results, give feedback and explore how to accelerate the adoption of EU4Digital activities at national level.

International Trade Facilitation Forum highlights digital technologies for Ukraine Solidarity Lanes
The value of digital technologies in maintaining trade routes between Ukraine, Moldova and European Union countries was highlighted in the International Trade Facilitation Forum on 12 October 2023. The European Border Assistance Mission to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) and the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova organised the hybrid event, which was held in Chisinau and online. EU4Digital participated in the meeting, where its eCustoms activity was mentioned as one of the solutions for trade facilitation within the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes initiative.

New EU4Digital eCustoms activities expand Ukraine–Moldova–Romania trade potential
EU4Digital Facility kicked off new eCustoms pilot activities on 27 September 2023. The new pilots, between participating customs authorities of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, build on previous successes. These pilots are part of a wider programme of EU4Digital eTrade activities to develop cross-border trade in the Eastern Partnership.

EU4Digital visits Ukraine-Romania border in preparation for eCustoms pilot
EU4Digital Facility has visited the Ukraine-Romania border in preparation for the upcoming eCustoms pilot between the two countries. EU4Digital experts visited the border crossing point (BCP) between Siret in Romania and Porubne in Ukraine on 30-31 May 2023.

EU4Digital Ukraine-Romania eCustoms pilot reaches key milestone
A key milestone has been reached in the EU4Digital eCustoms pilot between Ukraine and Romania, which will test the systematic cross-border exchange of data. On 5 May 2023, the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Romanian Customs Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), regarding the manner and testing of the electronic information exchange.

New Ukraine-Romania eCustoms pilot to streamline cross-border data exchange
EU4Digital Facility Phase II initiated a new eCustoms pilot between State Customs of Ukraine and the Romanian Customs Authority, on 7 March 2023. This is part of the EU4Digital eTrade thematic area’s eCustoms activity, which focuses on piloting mechanisms for data exchange between bordering customs administrations.
