Azerbaijani officials to visit Estonia for study visit on cyber security

Three senior officials from Azerbaijan’s Cyber Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies travel to Estonia on 12-13 November for an EU-funded study visit to learn and discuss Estonia’s experience in developing and implementing legislation on network and information systems and more specifically cybersecurity strategies.
The Study Visit – organised under the EU’s TAIEX mechanism – aims at:
Learning from Estonian legislative and practical experience (also capacity building) in cyber security;
Gaining knowledge and skills in cyber security policy making;
Developing close cooperation between Estonia and Azerbaijan in the field cyber security;
Implementing Estonia’s experience of cyber security in Azerbaijan.
The first day of the visit will see meetings with Estonian government institutions and experts, while the second day will focus on public-private partnerships.
Estonian officials and experts will share their experience in implementing the EU Directive on security of network and information systems (NIS Directive), which imposes on Member States the requirement to adopt a national strategy on the security and information systems. Reference will also be made to the key provisions of data protection, in particular the EU Directive on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR Regulation), as personal data protection provisions are essential to ensure that data breaches are addressed effectively while ensuring the security of network and information systems.
