The course aims to equip students with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in blockchain technology and its applications. The curriculum is devised to meet the growing need for skilled professionals in this innovative tech sector, and to foster academic excellence in real-world problem-solving. Enrolment for the new programme begins in 2024.
The initiative reflects Armenia’s proactive approach to embracing emerging technologies and fostering a skilled workforce equipped to navigate the demands of the digital era. Through strategic partnerships and forward-thinking initiatives, Armenia aims to solidify its position as a leader in technological education and innovation.
Key figures in the development of the degree course delivered speeches during the announcement event at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia on 16 April 2024. The Minister of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the Rector of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, Gor Vardanyan, and the co-founder of the Web3 Armenia Foundation, Artyom Harutyunyan, emphasised the strategic importance of incorporating blockchain technologies into academic curricula and the projected influence on Armenia’s digital economy.
Programmes that meet the requirements of both the local and international market are of strategic importance for us. This initiative is a clear proof of university-private sector cooperation and will be promoted even more by the government, particularly by the Ministry of High-tech Industry.

Rector Gor Vardanyan expressed enthusiasm for the programme, noting Armenia’s potential as a trailblazer in the field of education. In addition to successfully ensuring the programme’s sustainability and introducing ‘Blockchain and Web3 Technologies’ as a novel professional educational track, he said that “the programme not only equips students with cutting-edge knowledge but also opens doors for professional opportunities, retraining and competitiveness.”
