High-tech and engineering companies are invited to apply for resident status in ‘Engineering City’, Armenia. Resident companies are encouraged to nurture and implement groundbreaking ideas, catering to both local and international markets, within a state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Engineering City initiative aims to foster the innovation ecosystem as part of the Government of Armenia’s Trade Promotion and Quality Infrastructure (TPQI) project to support sustainable growth, competitiveness and job creation.
The TPQI project builds on previous and ongoing projects financed by the World Bank. On 6 October 2023, the Republic of Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Robert Khachatryan, engaged with representatives of the World Bank’s TPQI Project Implementation Support Mission, led by Carolin Geginat, Country Manager of the World Bank for Armenia. They reviewed progress, explored potential areas for future collaboration and discussed ongoing initiatives within the TPQI framework, such as Engineering City, revitalisation of part of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, and the establishment of a supercomputer centre and a National Venture Fund.
Minister Khachatryan praised the positive strides made within the TPQI Project and expressed eagerness to continue cooperation, reflecting Armenia’s enduring commitment to technological innovation and development.
Engineering City
Eligible companies may be granted land plots with rights to construct office spaces within Engineering City – a 3-hectare site in Yerevan. The project seeks to provide selected companies with access to advanced shared laboratory equipment and manufacturing machinery, fostering innovation and progress across a range of sectors including material science, electronics, measuring equipment, aerospace, robotics, semiconductor technology, biomedicine, and more. As a result of the Engineering City initiative, it is expected to create a new-format ecosystem where engineering and high-tech companies have an opportunity to develop and implement innovative ideas.
