Moldova is prioritising digitalisation to boost its private sector, preparing a Digital Transformation Strategy for 2023-2030 that focuses on digital literacy and business skills. To support this, the OECD launched a project in February 2022 to enhance digital business skills in Moldova. This effort aims to develop a supportive ecosystem for digital skills, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In 2022, the OECD conducted research and engaged with local and international stakeholders to offer policy recommendations for Moldova’s digital skill enhancement. This included workshops with senior policymakers, private sector leaders, and experts, including notable input from EU4Digital Facility’s Digital Skills Stream Leader Atis Migals. The resulting report outlines institutional and policy frameworks for digital skills, gap analysis to improve skill assessments, and provides support to Moldovan firms in digital skill acquisition.
The main author of the OECD’s report, Salomé Will, presented an overview of OECD policy support to Eastern partner countries on issues related to the digitalisation of SMEs, including digital skills policies, in the 2023 EU4Digital ICT Innovation Forum. The presentation slides are available in the EU4Digital Library.
