Strengthening cybersecurity capacities in Moldova is crucial in the context of the war in Ukraine and the increasingly frequent challenges of the digital age. Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Recean and Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economic Development and Digitization, Dumitru Alaiba opened the event and highlighted the national importance of cyber security.
Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important. It’s time for all of us, as public or private sector employees, entrepreneurs, and citizens, to grow our capacities in this aspect and increase investment in cybersecurity.
Dorin Recean, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova.
During this first Moldova Cybersecurity Forum, international experts shared insights on topics such as regional cyber threats, the development of cybersecurity strategies, the essential skills and elements in a resilient cyber ecosystem, and regional cooperation for a safe cyber space.
The event also saw the launch of new institutions that will have an essential role in preventing cyber threats, the National Agency for Cyber Security and the National Institute for Innovations in Cyber Security, ‘Cybercor’. The new agency will protect critical state and societal infrastructure from cyber-attacks and ensure a high level of security for the networks and IT systems of public and private institutions. Cybercor, under the management of the Technical University of Moldova, will promote innovation and excellence in theoretical and practical education in the cybersecurity field, as well as providing professional training for civil servants and students, ensuring national level preparedness for sectoral challenges.
