The development of 5G private networks significantly enhances connectivity, industry innovations, security and overall communications efficiency, leading to improvements of different industries and businesses. EU4Digital Facility experts prepared this EU best practice report on the development of 5G private networks as part of the Telecom Rules stream of activities. The report covers the following topics:
- 5G private networks use-cases from a business perspective;
- Comparison of the different types of 5G private networks;
- Frequencies’ allocation to 5G private networks, analysing different European cases;
- 5G private networks frequency standardisation at the EU level.
The main objective of the report is to discuss the business use-cases for developing 5G private networks as well as to share experience gathered by the EU Member States on the allocation of frequencies. The report aims to:
- Describe 5G networks application across different industries;
- Provide guidance to the Eastern partner countries, their network operators, and other stakeholders on the types of 5G private networks available and the possible frequency allocations;
- Provide frequency allocation examples from the EU Member States.
Based on the findings of the report and inputs from the Eastern partner countries, EU4Digital will define country-specific priorities and initiatives to be implemented for 5G private networks developments.
