Date: 11/04/24
EU4Digital Facility experts have prepared the EU best practice report on the development of 5G private networks as part of the Telecom Rules stream of activities. The main objective of the report is to discuss business use-cases for developing 5G private networks as well as to share experience gathered by the EU Member States on the allocation of frequencies.
The rise of 5G private networks presents the opportunity to connect millions of devices worldwide and the realisation of advanced projects across industries ranging from obtaining real-time diagnostic data in healthcare to smart energy, transportation, water and waste management.
The report discusses examples of 5G private network benefits in the automotive and industrial products industries, among others. Automotive companies aim to utilise the high speed and low latency of 5G to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime through real-time monitoring, while companies manufacturing industrial products are connecting local industrial applications and leveraging the Internet of Things and AI for faster and more reliable networks, enhanced product quality and to build safer workplaces. Based on the findings of the report and inputs from the Eastern partner countries, EU4Digital will define country-specific priorities and initiatives to be implemented for 5G private networks developments.
